Terms of use
Last updated 5 November 2026
In short
- Rejoice Bible is free to read, study and share from, for your own personal use.
- The Bible text belongs to the people who wrote, translated and license it. Use it as their licences allow.
- Don’t copy it in bulk, resell it, or use the app or its servers to build something else.
- Don’t abuse the app, its servers or the people behind them. We can stop access if you do.
- Your notes and highlights are yours and stay on your device.
Who these terms are for
These terms apply to everyone who installs or uses Rejoice Bible, on Android, Windows, Mac or the web app at app.rejoice.bible, and to anyone who visits this website. The app is made by Rejoice Ministries in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). By using the app or this website you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.
Using the app
We give you a free, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the app to read, search, study and make notes on the Bible, for yourself, your family and your church’s own non-commercial ministry. There is no charge, no advertising and no account. We may change, pause or stop any part of the app at any time.
The Bible text and other content
The app shows content that belongs to other people, and each has its own licence:
- Translations. Each translation’s copyright holder and licence are shown in the app, under the passage and in the translation list. Some are open or public domain; others are licensed to us, or reached through a licensed service, only for use inside this app.
- Study notes, dictionaries and original-language texts come from the providers named in Settings → About → Creator and Providers, under their own terms.
- Paintings and stories in the app are ours, or used with permission, and are protected by copyright. The paintings are created with AI tools and are labelled as such.
- The app itself: its design, code, name, logo and text belong to Rejoice Ministries or our licensors.
You may quote short passages for your own study, teaching, worship or conversation, as the translation’s licence allows. The app limits how much can be copied or shared in one go for some translations, and adds the reference and copyright notice. Please leave those notices in place.
What you must not do
You agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:
- Copy or redistribute content in bulk. This includes downloading whole translations, books or study notes to use outside the app, publishing them, selling them, or putting them in another app, website, database or file.
- Get around the limits. Don’t remove or avoid copy limits, licence notices, attribution or copyright text, or any restriction that applies to a translation (for example, a translation that may only be read online).
- Scrape or automate. Don’t use bots, scripts or other automated means to collect content from the app, our storage, or the services behind it, and don’t make repeated requests that load or slow our servers or those of our providers.
- Extract or misuse keys and access. Don’t try to find, copy or use any key, token, address or credential the app uses to reach its content, or use them for anything other than running this app.
- Use it for your own commercial purposes. Don’t charge for access to the app or its content, put it behind a paywall, add advertising to it, or use it to build or train a competing product, a dataset or an AI model.
- Attack or damage the service. Don’t try to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the app, this website, our storage or our providers’ services, or introduce malicious code.
- Reverse engineer. Don’t decompile, copy, modify or make derivative versions of the app, except where the law says you may.
- Misrepresent us. Don’t use the name Rejoice Bible, our logo or our paintings in a way that suggests we made, approve or endorse your work, and don’t pass off our content as yours.
- Break the law. Don’t use the app for anything unlawful, or to harass, deceive or harm anyone.
If you break these terms
We, or the owners of the content, may block your access to the app’s online content, remove downloaded content, and take whatever other steps the law allows. Because the app has no accounts, we usually do this by blocking requests, not by closing an account. Anything you have written yourself stays on your device and is not affected.
Your own notes and data
Your highlights, notes, bookmarks and settings are yours. They are stored on your device, not with us (see the privacy policy). You are responsible for keeping backups: the app can save one to a file you choose, and we can’t recover what you lose by uninstalling or clearing your browser data.
Content can change or be removed
Translations and other content come from licences and services we don’t control. A licence can end, and a provider can change or withdraw content at any time. If that happens, a translation may stop being available online, and we may have to remove copies already downloaded to your device. We can’t promise any particular translation will always be available.
No guarantees
We work hard to keep the text accurate and the app dependable, but the app and its content are provided “as is”, without any promise that they are free of errors, always available or suitable for a particular purpose. Study notes and commentary are the views of their authors. Please check anything important against your own Bible and with your church. Nothing in the app is professional advice.
Our responsibility to you
Because the app is free, we are not responsible for loss or damage that was not caused by our own negligence, such as lost notes, a device problem or content that is unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your legal rights are not affected.
Links and other services
The app and this website link to and use other services, including those of our providers, Google Play, Cloudflare and Microsoft Azure. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them, and we are not responsible for them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add a feature or a new provider. We will change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may use your local courts.
